Solid stone bath
بانيو من الحجر
A freestanding bath carved from block, or built from mitred panels around a shell where weight has to come down. Both look the same from a metre away. Only one of them can go on the first floor of most villas.
How it is built
The heaviest thing that will ever go into the room.
- Carved: a single block hollowed on the CNC and hand-finished. Two and a half tonnes of block for a bath that finishes near 700 kg, empty.
- Panelled: 20 mm slab mitred around a structural shell, finishing near 180 kg empty. Same face, a quarter of the load, and far less to make.
- Either way the bath goes in before the door frame. This is not a detail we can work around later.
| Carved | From block, ~700 kg empty, ~950 kg filled |
|---|---|
| Panelled | Mitred slab on a shell, ~180 kg empty |
| Typical size | 1700 × 800 × 550 mm |
| Lead time | 8 to 10 weeks carved, 5 weeks panelled |
Worth knowing before you order
Floor loading, access, and the order of works. We survey the route from the street to the room before we quote a carved bath, and we have walked away from jobs where the stair could not take it.
Stone
What it is cut from.
Stone holds heat far longer than acrylic, which is the actual reason to want one. It also draws heat from the first fill, so run it hot.

Galala Extra
The selected, lightest and most uniform grade of Galala.

Sinai Pearl
Pearly cream with a faint grey-green cast.

Imperial Grey
Silver-grey ground lit by pale crystalline veining.

Sunny Medium
The middle grade — between Sunny Menia and Sunny Dark.

Samaha
Warm mid beige with a fine, sandy crystal.
