Build & MEP

Outdoor & Terraces

In a North Coast chalet the terrace is the house. We build them as proper structures — waterproofed, drained, laid in stone that stays cool underfoot, shaded by something engineered, lit so it works after dark, and finished with an outdoor kitchen you can actually cook on.

Scope of works

What we actually do.

Everything below happens inside our business — no subcontracted links in the chain.

  1. 01

    Waterproofing & drainage

Membranes, falls, drainage channels and pedestal systems on roof terraces and over habitable rooms — the part nobody sees and everybody regrets skipping.

  2. 02

    Stone paving & decking

Bush-hammered granite and marble, porcelain pavers on pedestals, and composite or hardwood decking laid on ventilated sub-frames.

  3. 03

    Pool surrounds & copings

Anti-slip copings with bullnose or drop-face profiles, matched deck stone, and expansion detailing that survives coastal temperature swings.

  4. 04

    Pergolas & shade

Engineered steel and aluminium pergolas, bioclimatic louvred roofs, awnings and shade sails, wind-rated for exposed sites.

  5. 05

    Outdoor kitchens & bars

Weatherproof carcasses with sintered stone tops, built-in grills, sinks, fridges and lighting — detailed for sun, rain and salt.

  6. 06

    Landscape & lighting

Planting beds, irrigation, garden and pool lighting, and IP-rated power for everything you will eventually want to plug in outside.

Questions we get asked

Outdoor & Terraces — questions we get asked

What stone stays coolest underfoot around a pool?
Light-coloured, low-density stone with a textured finish. Sinai Pearl and lighter Galala in a bush-hammered finish are noticeably cooler than dark granite, which in direct Sahel sun becomes genuinely painful by midday. Light porcelain on pedestals is another good answer and it drains beautifully.
Why do roof terraces leak into the flat below?
Almost always because tiles were laid on a screed with no membrane, no falls and no upstand at the perimeter and door thresholds. Water finds a way in and then travels. We strip back to structure, tank the whole area including upstands, flood test it, and only then build up the deck. It costs more once and nothing afterwards.
Can you build a terrace before the summer season?
If we survey in winter, yes. Sahel work is intensely seasonal and everyone wants the same six weeks in spring, so the clients who get finished on time are the ones who signed drawings months earlier. We schedule coastal work in batches to keep crews and transport efficient.
Do you handle pools themselves?
Yes — the shell, the tiling, the plant and the deck. We build reinforced concrete pools, tile them in glass mosaic, set the coping to a laser line and commission the filtration and lighting ourselves. See the swimming pools page for the detail. The terrace around it is the same contract and the same crew, which is the whole point.
