Commission 02 · Basins, vanities & baths
Monolithic vanity, basin carved in
وحدة حوض من كتلة واحدة
The purest version of a stone vanity and the most expensive, because most of the block ends up on the floor as dust. The top, the bowl, the splashback and the returns are one continuous piece of stone with no joint anywhere, so the vein runs unbroken from the wall, across the deck, down into the bowl and out again.
How it is built
One block. The basin is not fitted to it, it is taken out of it.
- A block is squared, then the bowl is roughed out on the five-axis CNC and finished by hand. Between 55 and 70 per cent of the block is removed.
- The bowl is cut with a fall to the waste built into the carve, not chased in afterwards, so water never stands in the base.
- The whole piece is impregnated before it leaves the workshop and again after installation. On a marble bowl this is not optional — see the note below.
| Typical size | 900–1800 mm wide, 500–550 mm deep |

Worth knowing before you order
Marble is calcium carbonate. Lemon, vinegar, descaler and some cleaning products will etch it, sealed or not. If the bathroom belongs to a family that will not think about it, we will steer you to granite or to a quartz deck with a stone-look surround.
Stone
What it is cut from.
Fine, even-grained creams carve cleanly and hold a crisp arris. Anything with a fossil bed or a hard vein running through it will chip at the bowl rim, which is why we will sometimes refuse a stone you have already fallen in love with.

Galala Extra
The selected, lightest and most uniform grade of Galala.

Sinai Pearl
Pearly cream with a faint grey-green cast.

Imperial Grey
Silver-grey ground lit by pale crystalline veining.

Sunny Menia
Golden honey ground with fine horizontal movement.
Royal Grey
Even mid-grey with a fine, calm figure — a contract floor stone.
