Stair treads & helical stringers
درج رخام
A straight flight is measurement. A curved or helical flight is a template job: every tread is a different shape and they are cut from a survey of the actual structure, not from the architect's drawing, because the two are never quite the same.
How it is built
Including the ones that curve, which is a different job entirely.
- The built structure is templated in full, then treads are nested and cut individually. No two are assumed identical.
- Nosings run to a matching profile around the curve, which is the detail that separates a good stone stair from an expensive one.
- Risers, skirtings and the raking stringer are cut from the same slab sequence so the colour walks up the flight instead of jumping.
| Template | Full site template of the built structure |
|---|---|
| Treads | Cut individually; curved flights have no repeats |
| Finish | Honed on wet routes, polished internally |
| Lead time | 5 to 8 weeks depending on flight |
Worth knowing before you order
Template after the structure is built and before the plaster. Templating too early is the single most common cause of a re-cut.
Stone
What it is cut from.
Honed rather than polished on any stair that gets wet feet. A polished marble tread by a pool is a hospital visit waiting to happen.

Galala Classic
Egypt's flagship beige — warm, even and quarried in volume.

Imperial Grey
Silver-grey ground lit by pale crystalline veining.

Black Aswan
Dense black with a subtle grey crystal.

Sunny Oro
The richest gold in the Sunny family.

Karnak Grey
Medium-grain ash grey out of the Aswan beds.

Not a drawing
One of ours, already built.
Everything above is a drawing, because a drawing promises a capability and nothing more. This is a photograph of a piece we actually made.
