Engineered surfaces

Quartz & Sintered Stone

Engineered surfaces exist for one reason: predictability. Same colour in every slab, near-zero porosity, and joints you have to be told about to find. We fabricate quartz and sintered stone on CNC and waterjet, which is the difference between a worktop that looks made and one that looks cut.

Scope of works

What we actually do.

Everything below happens inside our business — no subcontracted links in the chain.

  1. 01

    Brand-name quartz

Silestone, Caesarstone, Compac and Technistone supplied through authorised channels, alongside value-engineered quartz for budgets that need it. We tell you which is which.

  2. 02

    Sintered & ultra-compact

Dekton, Neolith and Laminam in 4–20 mm for worktops, full-height splashbacks, cladding and outdoor kitchens that face direct sun.

  3. 03

    CNC & waterjet fabrication

Undermount sink cut-outs, drainer grooves, hob cut-outs with reinforced corners, socket apertures and mitred waterfall returns cut to the millimetre.

  4. 04

    Invisible jointing

Colour-matched epoxy, vein-continued across joints on patterned slabs, and seam placement planned on the drawing rather than discovered on site.

  5. 05

    Templating & fitting

Digital laser templating after the cabinets are set, so the top follows the real room instead of the plan.

Selection

Surfaces we specify most

  • Pure & super whitesQuartz

The seamless modern kitchen. Zero pattern, so joints and mitres have to be perfect — which is exactly why they should be machine-cut.

  • Calacatta-look quartzQuartz

The marble drama without the etching risk. We continue the vein through mitres and across joints so it reads as one block.

  • Concrete & cement looksQuartz / Sintered

Matte greys with a soft texture. Very forgiving in daily use, excellent with oak and brass.

  • Sintered ultra-compactSintered stone

UV-stable, heat-proof and effectively non-porous. The correct answer for outdoor kitchens and terraces in Sahel.

  • Deep blacks & anthracitesQuartz / Sintered

Matte or suede finishes for islands and full-height splashbacks. We recommend a fingerprint-resistant grade.

Questions we get asked

Quartz & Sintered Stone — questions we get asked

Is quartz better than marble for a kitchen?
For the working surface, almost always. Quartz is non-porous, does not etch from lemon or wine, and comes in identical slabs so a large kitchen matches. Marble is more beautiful and more alive, but it will patinate. Many of our clients run quartz on the worktop and marble on the island face or splashback — you see the stone, you do not maintain it.
Can quartz go outside or in direct sun?
No — quartz uses a polymer resin binder that yellows and can warp under sustained UV. That matters in Sahel. For anything exposed we specify sintered stone such as Dekton or Neolith, which is UV-stable and rated for exterior use. Any supplier who sells you quartz for an outdoor kitchen is either uninformed or hoping you will not call back.
Will I see the joints?
You will see them if you know where to look, and not otherwise. We plan seam locations on the drawing, keep them off the sink and hob, colour-match the epoxy to the slab and, on patterned material, continue the vein across the joint. That is a fabrication decision, not a fitting one.
How thick should the worktop look?
A 20 mm slab with a mitred build-up gives you any apparent thickness you want. Current preference in high-end New Cairo and Sahel kitchens runs 4 cm on the perimeter and 8–20 cm on the island. We mock the profile up in card on site before cutting.
