Granite

Granite is the stone you specify when a surface has to survive people. We cut Egyptian granite from Aswan and the Eastern Desert on our own lines and import the blacks and blues that Egypt does not quarry — then install them on stairs, façades, kitchens and terraces that will outlive the fit-out around them.

Scope of works

What we actually do.

Everything below happens inside our business — no subcontracted links in the chain.

  1. 01

    Egyptian granite direct

Aswan Red, Halayeb, Verde Ghazal, Gandola and Black Aswan bought at the block from quarry partners in Aswan and Marsa Alam.

  2. 02

    Imported blocks & slabs

Absolute Black from India, Blue Pearl and Labrador from Norway, Baltic Brown from Finland — for the pieces where colour has to be exact.

  3. 03

    Heavy fabrication

Gang-saw slabbing, CNC profiling, drainer grooves, sink cut-outs, stair nosings, anti-slip grooving and flamed or bush-hammered anti-slip finishes.

  4. 04

    Façade & cladding systems

Ventilated façades on stainless anchors, kerf-cut and undercut fixings, engineered and drawn before fabrication.

  5. 05

    Installation & sealing

Set by our own masons with a documented joint and movement schedule, then sealed against the salt and sun load that Sahel and Alexandria throw at exterior stone.

Selection

Granites we work with

  • Aswan Red (Royal Red)Aswan, Egypt

The classic Egyptian granite — deep red-pink with black flecking. Unmatched for external stairs and entrance thresholds.

  • Halayeb & New HalayebRed Sea, Egypt

Warm brown-red with heavy movement. Reads rich on cladding and kitchen worktops.

  • Verde GhazalEgypt

Dark olive-green. A strong, distinctly Egyptian alternative to imported greens.

  • Black Aswan & GandolaAswan, Egypt

Dense charcoal-to-black stones for treads, sills and hard-wear worktops.

  • Absolute BlackIndia

The uniform, vein-free black. Honed or leathered, it is the default for a modern minimal kitchen.

  • Blue Pearl / LabradorNorway

Iridescent blue-grey crystal. Expensive, and worth it on a single hero surface.

Questions we get asked

Granite — questions we get asked

Granite or quartz for a kitchen worktop?
Granite wins on heat and scratch resistance and on the fact that no two tops are the same. Quartz wins on stain resistance, colour consistency and invisible joints. If you cook seriously and put pans down without thinking, granite. If you want a seamless pale worktop that never marks, quartz. We will price both on the same drawing so you can decide on numbers rather than opinion.
Does granite need sealing?
Most dense granites need very little, but on lighter and more porous stones we apply an impregnating sealer at fabrication and recommend a refresh every two to three years. Exterior work in Sahel and Alexandria gets a salt-resistant treatment as standard because coastal exposure is the real enemy, not rain.
Can granite be used outdoors in the North Coast?
It is the best choice available. Water absorption is typically under 0.4%, it holds colour under UV, and flamed or bush-hammered finishes give genuine anti-slip performance around pools. We detail the joints for thermal movement because coastal day-night swings are what cracks badly-laid stone.
Do you fabricate stair treads with anti-slip grooves?
Yes — CNC-cut grooves, sandblasted strips or inset brass or steel nosings. We usually recommend two grooves set back 20 mm from the nose, which meets safety expectations without looking industrial.
